Building resilient, healthier, low-carbon places that protect nature and resources while advancing inclusive, thriving communities and a just green transformation.

This Mission will support the acceleration and widespread adoption of robust and fair solutions to environmental problems across infrastructure, energy systems and nature. Sustainable Futures will face the global ecological emergency head on, recognising the urgent need to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss, and the disproportionate impacts on communities on the front line - particularly across the Majority World and in under-resourced communities. Important aspects of this Mission include: 

• Decarbonised climate-proofed homes, transport, and infrastructure. 

• More resilient ecosystems through nature-based solutions and biodiversity recovery. 

• Minimised resource use and waste, resulting in a more circular economy.   

• Improved equity, wellbeing and climate readiness.  

• Broadened debate around alternative sufficiency-led economic models.  

• Co-produced approaches with communities to deliver locally appropriate solutions.
